Context: The provision of fit for purpose water to meet increasing municipal, industrial and agricultural demand, stormwater control and flood mitigation, safe sanitation and wastewater management in a sustainable fashion still remains a major challenge in many parts of the world. The emerging climate change concerns coupled with global economic down turn make this challenge even more complex than ever before. To achieve sustainable water management, a holistic approach and better understanding of interactions between urban water components and influencing factors is required. There is a need to not only design and implement resource efficient robust technological solutions, but also consider wider social implications and bring in a paradigm shift in the way water is currently valued and managed.

Conference Aim: This conference is aimed at discussing opportunities and challenges for integrated and sustainable water management and implementation potential of innovative resource efficient robust solutions for developing and transition countries. The conference also aims to facilitate information exchange and networking between researchers from the developed, transition and developing countries and explore new research frontiers.

In addition to conference proceedings, top quality papers accepted after peer review will be published in journals of international standing. The programme will include a number of workshops which are being planned in association with IWA specialist groups and other international organisations.
