Projects

The DelPHE project on "Capacity Building for Urban Water Demand Management" provided funds for the initiate establishment of three pilot scale greywater (less polluted wastewater collected before it mixes with WC waste) recycling projects to investigate their performance in a predominantly hot climate.

1. GROW Technology

2. Reedbed Technology

3. Rotating Biological Contactor Technology

The technologies involved will utilise low cost, locally available materials and ancillary equipment.

The dessimination of the results on above research projects and the development of nationwide network on water demand management comprising stakeholders from higher education institutes, industry and government will help to gather the necessary critical mass to facilitate development, exchange and promotion of knowledge on:

  • Innovative (but robust) WDM ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ solutions, technology rollout and resulting spin off companies (opportunities and implications for the urban poor).

  • Policy Information nad decision making.
